I find that whenever I am listening to music on any device that displays volume as a number that I have to have the volume on either a multiple of 5 or an even number. It's not that I'll have a melt down if it's not, but I just find that a volume of 17 will nag at me until I am annoyed enough to change it even if it means that the volume is too loud or too soft. It seems unreasonable to me that it would really matter that much but for some reason I keep finding myself reaching down to change it or to check and make sure that my radio is turned to the right volume number. I know that I'm not the only one who does this either as I have a few friends who so the same thing. So I guess my question is how prevalent is this really and why does it matter?
Now onto emergency parking. Yesterday as I was making deliveries for my job, I was stopped by a women and asked if she was allowed to park on a red curb to which I answered "no, its emergency parking." Now I don't know if other states actually paint their curbs other colors but I'm fairly certain that it's common knowledge countrywide that a red curb is for emergency vehicles only. It's not the dumbest of questions but it did cause me to crick my head to the side and go "Really?" Now for a fairly amusing story regarding emergency parking. My father is a retired firefighter and has had to deal with assholes parking their cars in front of fire hydrants (marked with a red curb) before. One particular story he shared with me was a structure fire they were called out to. When they arrived on the scene they were greeted at the fire hydrant by a brand new BMW and no owner in sight. Their response: smash the windows and feed the hose through the car. And this is why you don't park in front of a fire hydrant or on a red curb. Because, in the case of an actual emergency they can do what ever is necessary to get the job done, even if it ruins your car. A small price to pay, I think, for saving lives.
